Hamburg U5 construction site visit (optional)

After lunch, there is an optional opportunity to visit an open section of the new U5 underground line in Hamburg – currently the largest ongoing public transport infrastructure project in Germany. The project is notable for its scale, complexity and logistical demands, and underscores STRABAG’s leading role in German infrastructure construction.

A key focus of the project is climate protection. Through the use of low-carbon building materials, sustainable construction processes and CO₂ accounting throughout the build, the U5 is setting new standards in sustainable infrastructure construction. In total, the project is expected to save around 2.7 million tonnes of CO₂ during its implementation.

14:00 14:45: Project introduction at Gastwerk by project manager Yves Grebing
14:45 16:00: Transfer and tour of the construction site
16:00 16:30: Return transfer to Gastwerk or direct transfer to the airport

Important information: This activity will only take place in good weather. Your safety on the construction site is ensured; appropriate protective equipment (helmet, high-visibility vest and new safety boots) will be provided and must be worn at all times on site. Please also note that this is an active excavation site and may therefore be dirty. If there is sufficient demand, the tour will be offered in both English and German.
